Single-Molecule Imaging Probe

Synthetic Chemistry

Single molecule imaging probe suffers from photobleaching and non-manipulatable blinking. Our goal is developing super-photostable probes and manipulating their on-off state, offering new solutions for long-term single molecule tracking and super-resolution imaging based in single molecule localization. We are particularly interested in lanthanide based upconversion nanoprobes and stimulus-activatable organic dyes.

Single-Molecule Imaging System

Photonics

All the setups in our lab are home-built systems tailored to specific applications. For example, we are working on improving super-resolution imaging based on single molecule localization for better biocompatibility.

Investigating Biological And Chemical Mechanism

Application

The mitochondrion is a double membrane-bound organelle found in most eukaryotic organisms. Mitochondria generate most of the cell's supply of ATP, used as a source of chemical energy. Mitochondrion is thus termed the powerhouse of the cell. We are interested in using single molecule imaging and single molecule localization based super-resolution imaging to study the fusion, fission, and transport of mitochondrion in live neuron, as well as membrane associated bio-interface.
